Metal Mouth Milestones – SOLC 26 of 31

First, came the palate expander, for her.

Then came the retainer, for her.

Then came the braces, for her and the palate expander, for him.

Then came the retainer, for him.

Now the braces are coming off, for her.

The retainer is done, for him.

The braces are going on, for him.

So many

metal mouth milestones.

    Then came the retainer.
    So I empty my pockets
    and hand you my coins,
the last remains of a life’s fortune,
as you pull me in close,
    and whisper a fortune’s worth
    of words.

I love “metal mouth milestones.” The alliteration and the sentiment.

I especially love the last line of this slice and the alliteration. This does not sound fun!

I love how you listed the progression for each of them. It almost sounds like a race.

This morning, I wrote about lifting lines from SOL posts for poems. Thank you for inspiring some poetry. I hope I did your words justice.
