SOLC 18 of 31: Upside/Downside

The upside of social distancing is more family time. The downside of social distancing is not being able to see my “other” kids.

The upside of being at home is more opportunity to excercise. The downside of being at home is that I’m glued to my computer for virtual connecting.

The upside of self-isolation is that we are eating meals that we prepare together. The downside of self-isolation is that we will run out of food that we like to eat.

The upside of more family time is playing games we don’t usually play. The downside of more family time is that we will get on each other’s nerves.

The upside of staying at home is working with slippers on. The downside of staying at home is MORE of everything: cooking, laundry, trash, recycling, cleaning.

The upside of self-entertaining is being able to read and binge watch shows. The downside of self-entertaining is getting sucked into the news of the day.

You can look at this situation in many ways…from the upsides to the downsides. How do you look at it?

Your post reminds me of the book Fortunately Unfortunately.
I think feeling an honest balance of the things you described is ok as long as the scale tips to the upside!

I can totally appreciate your dueling perspectives! We are certainly getting the opportunity to see things in new ways. I’m trying to look at it all through a lens of gratitude-for what I still have and what I have had. Thanks for this thought provoking post!

Thank you for sharing your upsides. I like the way you can see things in more than one way. I can relate to the family time/getting on each others’ nerves.
