SOLC 17 of 31: Unwrapping Barcelona

Traveling to a new city is like a gift waiting to be unwrapped and revealed. Each new section and street delivers wonder and excitement.  The sites, along with the new friends we are making on our tour, enriches the layers and experiences of each venue.

We are only hours into arriving in Barcelona and already we have been teased by stained glass windows that stun corner apartment buildings, narrow cobblestone streets and alleys in the old section of town, stunning ironwork on “juliet” balconies, palm trees (yes!), and Barcelona’s very own version of the Arc de Triomphe!

For lunch we were treated to a Tapas meal at a restaurant in the old section of town. The food kept coming and coming – an opportunity to try authentic Tapas, new foods and meet new friends. Each meal, each location unveiling a new layer of learning, understanding and friendships along the way.  We sat around the tables learning first each other’s names and professions and families and just as easily started sharing stories, laughs and smiles.

The next few days promise to be packed with sights and adventures. I’m so looking forward to unwrapping this new city one day at a time.

I love your image of unwrapping new destinations like a present. So apt!
