No One Told the Geese, SOLC 2015, 9 of 31

Inspired by the gaggles of geese roaming my neighborhood and looking very confused:

No one told the geese
that it was still winter
that the ground was still
covered with snow

No one told the geese
of the dangers
they’d face
while warming their goosey-toes
on the road

No one told the geese
that they’d have to
search for grass
only to be found
in melted patches
beneath the trees

No one told the geese
that spring had
not yet sprung!

I am hoping you get some relief from winter soon. You and the geese need it.

I always feel so sad for them perched on the icy edge. Poor little geese.

No one told the geese … I’m going to take it as something they are trying to tell us! Spring is coming!!! Great poem.

No one told them…so they’re stuck, up above, in mid-air! Love this, love the repeated line, and the pure fun of it all!
