SOLC 26 of 31: The messy before the clean

I am having my kids’ rooms painted in two days. Therefore – it’s time to clean up and clean out before painting. The rooms are messy before they are clean. I hate that part about cleaning up. It’s always worse before it gets better. Its funny though, it’s a see-saw of feelings from overwhelmed to “let’s go,” from “I don’t want to,” to “it’ll be worth it.” It’s a great opportunity for us to go through their rooms and de-clutter, but it always seems like I’m the one doing most of the de-cluttering and cleaning.

It’s the messy before the clean.
It’s the chaos before the peace.
It’s the before, before the after.

I am in the middle of taxes. It feels exactly the same way as cleaning! I am just a little past the middle of chaos, determined to finish tonight! Yikes! Good luck with the rooms and the painting!!

It is a see-saw for sure. Sometimes you just feel like staying home from the park.

“It’s always worse before it gets better.” Holds true for so many things. But when I am REALLY cleaning, that is so true. If I get interrupted, it may never get done, and we’re stuck on really messy for a long time!

Clean up and clean out….we have all been there. How about the calm before the storm….or would it be the storm before the calm? 🙂 Hope your painting goes well. Jackie

It’s like we share a house! We painted last year and while it was a HUGE pain, it was beautiful when done. Of course, 10 months later, we need to really clean out again! Dirty cycle! 🙂

Your ending words are so true! I’m on spring break next week & will be doing a major cleaning out & cleaning up of our house. Not the most fun use of time, but needed!

I have been spending some time this week trying to de-clutter some of our rooms and picking up paint samples. I am anticipating a lot of frustration very soon.
